Meet the Team: Miranda Ballman, PHR

Updated: Nov 28, 2023

September is such a great month! And not just because of "Back to School," ...it's time to officially celebrate Miranda Ballman's one-year employment anniversary with Slice!

As anyone who has spent time with Miranda knows, she's incredibly kind, hardworking, smart, and dedicated to anything she puts her heart into. Her energy is quiet and fierce. The kind of person you have to incentivize to take time away from work while being known for staying cool and composed in most any high-stress situation. A florist/lawyer type...as you will learn in the interview below.

She has a business degree with an HR major from Wright State University, spent 5+ years as an HR Partner at a Fortune 500 company, and has achieved the PHR (Professional Human Resources) certification.

Here's a little more about Mir so you can get to know and love her as we do!

What’s your favorite slice? (pizza, pie, cake… )

Chocolate Mousse Pie! So good!

How did you first connect with Slice?

I took a break from work when my daughter was born in 2019. I have to laugh

when I say "took a break" from working because anyone who has been a stay-at-home parent knows that it's not a vacation. Even so, I am so grateful I had that

opportunity and was able to really soak in that special bonding time.

When I thought that finding meaningful work, it seemed like a shot in the dark - It was the fact that I was looking for a great company/team/opportunity that would also provide a flexible work schedule and true work-life balance. When I came across the posting and looked at the Slice website it was as if it was meant to be!

When I met Colleen and became familiar with the work she was doing with local

Cincinnati businesses, I knew I'd be lucky to join her team!

I'm loving working at Slice. The team has been so welcoming.

What's your favorite thing to do in your downtime?

Nature walks with my family - all year round - fresh air and good conversation is the best remedy for pretty much anything. We bundle up and take our dog Lola with us.

What’s your favorite time of day and why?

Morning coffee - a time to set my intentions and strategize for the day.

How do you see HR evolving in the future?

I think HR will continue to be instrumental in helping companies adapt to change. Employees are looking for a sense of belonging at work and the never-ending fight for work-life balance. I think there's a lot of value in encouraging employees to bring their whole selves to work and that's where the true talent and engagement shines through.

What did you want to be when you grew up when you were little?

I was always told I should be a lawyer but I wanted to be a florist like my grandma. Maybe one day!

What do you see as your strongest skill or attribute?

Curiosity and empathy. I believe most people are doing the best they can. I'm

happiest at work when I'm learning. I've been given great opportunities to stretch

my thinking and skills my whole career.

Most recently I'm enjoying learning about different jobs within several really cool industries and I enjoy talking to prospective candidates about their stories. It's fun to find the perfect match.

What do Miranda's clients say about her?

Miranda works seamlessly with our HR team to get jobs filled. She has become a trusted team member that I’m honored to work with and learn from. Lily Morgan, Brixey & Meyer

Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to partner with Miranda on a number of projects. I do not have to worry that the project will be done with excellence as Miranda routinely treats each assignment as if it were her own business. She brings innovative ideas to the table, and her work ethic produces stellar results! I greatly appreciate her attention to detail and ability to build amazing relationships with clients and team members! Steve Black, Brixey & Meyer

Miranda is an integral part of the Slice team. She is extremely talented in both HR Services & Recruiting and our clients love her. She listens to clients’ needs and concerns and always gives 100%. I have really enjoyed getting to know Miranda on a personal and professional level. She is always there for the team whenever someone needs help. We are so lucky to have her. Here’s to many more years to come! Meagan Senkowski, A Slice of HR

Congratulations Miranda! We're so glad you are here!
